2021 TR South Wrestling
Between graduation and opt-outs, there's only a handful of starters returning, leaving South with a very young lineup this season. There's excitement though to get a look at the promising newcomers as they do battle against the tough A-South slate as they build towards the future.
There's a trio of returning starters in the lower half of the lineup. Luke Cox enters his third year in the lineup for South. The junior has put up 37 victories in his first two years, and was a District runner-up in 2020. Sophomore Ray Gardner is coming off a solid rookie campaign, winning 19 bouts and placing 3rd in the District. Also returning is fellow sophomore Jon Fitzgerald, looking to take the next step forward after breaking into the lineup last season. TRS has some promising underclassmen looking to make an impact down low as well in sophomore Cody Cox, and freshmen Carson Cheong an Enrique Alvarado.
The upper half of the lineup will be also feature several new starters, so South will look to returners Shane Wadkins, the most experienced senior they have in the room, and junior Andrew Ganun, a 25-match winner last season, to provide leadership.
There's a lot of youth here, but it's a hard working bunch that is excited for the opportunity to compete against the tough A-South slate, that will only benefit them in the long run.
