Where They Open
12/15: @ Haddonfield Tournament

With over 40 wrestlers, the room is as full as it has ever been.

There is a great deal of depth in the lowerweights, headlined by junior Justin Murray. Murray, a 3rd place finisher at Districts, is back at 106, and gives South a strong presence down low. There are a handful of others with varsity experience expected to compete for slots in senior Matt Yuro, sophomore Chris Yuro, and juniors Jimmy Cohen and Jacob Cox. Some of the freshmen should break into the lineup as well, including promising rookies Josh Bocchino and Luke Cox.

Things are similar in the middle of the lineup as well. Senior Riley Cheong is the big gun in the lineup. A 29-bout winner a season ago, Cheong advanced to Atlantic City after placing 4th in the Region. The senior trio of Matt Carlson, Timmy Yuro, and Ryan Laycock all have varsity experience and will be battling for larger roles in the lineup. Potential new faces include junior Shane Gibson, sophomore Jon Turner, and another promising freshman in Andrew Ganun.

The numbers are a bit thinner up. South does have four seniors up here including a returning Region qualifier in Billy Zyckowski and returning starter Sam Akinlou, as well as Dom Spedaliere and Anthony Martinez, but they fall in the 170-195 are, which might leave the Indians with in the inability to cover the 220/Hwt slots.

South has good numbers with their proven talent and newcomers looking to make an impact. The lineup should be pretty good from 106-182, but the lack of true big men in the room might hurt them in the duals. Still, this is a team that has several wrestlers capable of having big years, and we'll keep an eye on the promising youngsters coming into the lineup and how fast they can come along.
