3/4: Corrigan Wins State Title
Cole Corrigan wrapped his undefeated season by finishing 40-0 and capturing the 152-pound State Title, the eight all-time for the Indians. He ends his career with the third most wins in program history with 141. He was a 2-time State Medal Winner, a 4-time State Qualifier, a 2-time Region Champion, and a 4-time District Champion.

South has a lot of experience returning in the middleweights, but that is going to be sandwiched by a group in the lower and upper weight classes consisting mostly of newcomers.
The big name returning is senior Cole Corrigan. Through the first three years of his career, Corrigan has amassed 101 victories, won three District Titles, one Region Title, and has advanced to Atlantic City each season, placing 7th there in 2016. Also returning for the Indians is another talented senior in Nick Galliccho, a 2-time District Champ who enters his final season with 78 career victories. That pair, along with William Cox and Joe Coyle, who missed most of last season with an injury, will be looked to provide leadership to all of the newcomers to the lineup.
Juniors Riley Cheong, coming off a solid sophomore season that saw him register 21 wins and place 2nd in the District, Tim Yuro, and Matt Yuro also return after starting last season, and three more juniors, Matt Carlson, Ryan Laycock, and Billy Zyckowski, all saw a little varsity action last season, and will look to assume larger roles this season. Likewise, sophomore Justin Murray will be looking to ascend to the next level after getting in valuable frosh experience in 2017.
While South does have some solid returners back in the fold, there will be a lot of relatively inexperienced newcomers, and some thin numbers in the upper weight classes, that is going to make the dual schedule a bit tougher, especially early in the season. As the season goes on and those newcomers get more and more mat time under their belts, the wins should hopefully follow as the team aims to top last season's win total.
