3/7: Clagon Places 7th In Atlantic City
BJ Clagon capped an outstanding freshman campaign this weekend by finishing in 7th place in the 125-pound weight class at this year's NJSIAA State Tournament. Clagon ends the season with a record of 34-5 with 13 pins. In addition to his 7th-place State medal, he also placed 3rd in the Region and won championships at the District 24, Walter Woods, and Nottingham Tournaments.

2/27: Clagon Advances To Atlantic City
Freshman BJ Clagon wrestled his way to 3rd place at Saturday's Region 6 Wrestling Tournament to earn himself a bid in this year's NJSIAA Championships at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Junior Evan Tarver came up one win shy of joining Clagon in AC when he lost by fall to Middletown North's Brandon Vorrius in the 3rd place match in the 189-pound weight class. Kyle Kenny wrestled his way to the 5th/6th position, while Allan Manzano was 0-2 on the day.

Allan Manzano and Evan Tarver won their opening round bouts of this year's Region 6 Tournament on Tuesday night. With their wins, they join teammates BJ Clagon and Kyle Kenny in the quarterfinal round on Friday night at the Ritacco Center.

Junior Kyle Kenny won his 2nd District title at 145 pounds and freshman BJ Clagon took the crown at 125 to become the 100th District champion in program history, as the Indians had eight medal winners in all to place 3rd as a team at the 2010 District 24 Tournament.
Kenny and Clagon receive byes into Friday night's quarterfinal round of the Region 6 Tournament, while the 2nd and 3rd place finishers will be in action on Tuesday night in the opening round.

2010 Season Preview

The Indians lost six starters that combined for over 150 wins to graduation, and as a result will be fielding one of the youngest lineups in the Shore Conference in 2010. Still, with some strong talent returning, and one of the best incoming freshman groups in the Shore, big things could be in store for the Toms River South program.
The lower half of the lineup will be anchored by junior Allan Manzano, who went on a great run to capture the District 24 title at 112 pounds a year ago. He's joined by three seniors, including 15-match winner Kayshun Damon, in a group of lowerweights that includes some freshmen that will turn a lot of heads in 2010, including Kevin Corrigan at 103 and BJ Clagon at 130.
Returning District champ Kyle Kenny and 3rd place finisher Justin Aeling highlight the upper portion of the lineup that will also be breaking in a handful of starters. Among the newcomers are junior Shaun Duckers, who went undefeated at the sub-varsity level in 2009, and junior Kyle Felton who was 25-1.

The two freshmen have been tearing it up the last few years on the Intermediate level, the Rec league, and on the tourney scene. They'll surely have some freshmen growing pains along the way, but both have the potential to have outstanding careers for the Indians, so they will worth keeping an eye on in the early going.
DESPO's Outlook
The Indians are young, but have a ton of talent. With the numbers and talent here, this is as deep as the program has been in a very long time. A-South is brutal, and the non-division slate featuring Raritan, Middletown South, Old Bridge, and Central, among others, is very tough so the Indians will hit some bumps along the way. But this is a team that has put in a lot of work in the off-season, and if the newcomers come along as expected, could be really tough down the stretch. Definitely a team with a very promising future in the Shore.

3/7: Clagon Places 7th In Atlantic City
BJ Clagon capped an outstanding freshman campaign this weekend by finishing in 7th place in the 125-pound weight class at this year's NJSIAA State Tournament. Clagon ends the season with a record of 34-5 with 13 pins. In addition to his 7th-place State medal, he also placed 3rd in the Region and won championships at the District 24, Walter Woods, and Nottingham Tournaments.

2/27: Clagon Advances To Atlantic City
Freshman BJ Clagon wrestled his way to 3rd place at Saturday's Region 6 Wrestling Tournament to earn himself a bid in this year's NJSIAA Championships at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Junior Evan Tarver came up one win shy of joining Clagon in AC when he lost by fall to Middletown North's Brandon Vorrius in the 3rd place match in the 189-pound weight class. Kyle Kenny wrestled his way to the 5th/6th position, while Allan Manzano was 0-2 on the day.

Allan Manzano and Evan Tarver won their opening round bouts of this year's Region 6 Tournament on Tuesday night. With their wins, they join teammates BJ Clagon and Kyle Kenny in the quarterfinal round on Friday night at the Ritacco Center.

Junior Kyle Kenny won his 2nd District title at 145 pounds and freshman BJ Clagon took the crown at 125 to become the 100th District champion in program history, as the Indians had eight medal winners in all to place 3rd as a team at the 2010 District 24 Tournament.
Kenny and Clagon receive byes into Friday night's quarterfinal round of the Region 6 Tournament, while the 2nd and 3rd place finishers will be in action on Tuesday night in the opening round.

2010 Season Preview
Head Coach: Ron Laycock (12th Season)
The Indians lost six starters that combined for over 150 wins to graduation, and as a result will be fielding one of the youngest lineups in the Shore Conference in 2010. Still, with some strong talent returning, and one of the best incoming freshman groups in the Shore, big things could be in store for the Toms River South program.
The lower half of the lineup will be anchored by junior Allan Manzano, who went on a great run to capture the District 24 title at 112 pounds a year ago. He's joined by three seniors, including 15-match winner Kayshun Damon, in a group of lowerweights that includes some freshmen that will turn a lot of heads in 2010, including Kevin Corrigan at 103 and BJ Clagon at 130.
Returning District champ Kyle Kenny and 3rd place finisher Justin Aeling highlight the upper portion of the lineup that will also be breaking in a handful of starters. Among the newcomers are junior Shaun Duckers, who went undefeated at the sub-varsity level in 2009, and junior Kyle Felton who was 25-1.

The two freshmen have been tearing it up the last few years on the Intermediate level, the Rec league, and on the tourney scene. They'll surely have some freshmen growing pains along the way, but both have the potential to have outstanding careers for the Indians, so they will worth keeping an eye on in the early going.
DESPO's Outlook
The Indians are young, but have a ton of talent. With the numbers and talent here, this is as deep as the program has been in a very long time. A-South is brutal, and the non-division slate featuring Raritan, Middletown South, Old Bridge, and Central, among others, is very tough so the Indians will hit some bumps along the way. But this is a team that has put in a lot of work in the off-season, and if the newcomers come along as expected, could be really tough down the stretch. Definitely a team with a very promising future in the Shore.
